What is it?
Tomato flu is a rare viral disease which cause rashes, dehydration, skin irritation and Body ache along with fever.
Age:
Mainly occurs in young age group of 1-5 years. But can happen in older children
Symptoms:
- Fever
- Rashes (various types of including fluid filled too)
- Weakness
- Nausea/vomiting
- Loose motions
- Body pain
- Joint pain and swelling
Mode of transmission:
- Highly contagious
- Spreads via close contact and Air
Treatment:
- Self-limiting disease
- No specific treatment
- Symptomatic relief
Watch for danger signs:
- Isolation
- Plenty of fluids
- Paracetamol for fever and body ache
- Some anti allergic syrups and ointments /lotions
- Symptomatic relief as per symptoms
- Settles down in 7-10 days
Prevention:
- Avoid close contact with infected children’s around
- Frequent hand wash, avoid touching contaminated surfaces
- Keep children hydrated (Plenty of fluids)
- Isolate your child as well to break the chain of spread
- Daily bathing and maintain good hygiene
- Full sleeves cotton cloths for children
